  • Image-based abuse is when intimate photos or videos, whether real or created using AI, are created or shared without consent, causing emotional and social harm.

Sexploitation refers to the sexual abuse, coercion, or exploitation of young people often for profit, information, manipulation, or control. Sexploitation occurs in online grooming, trafficking, and forced sharing of sexual content. It encompasses situations where minors are pressured, tricked, or forced into sexual activity or to produce sexual material, which is then distributed or used to exploit them.

In 2025, reports of online sexual exploitation of children surged with technology‑facilitated offenses like AI‑enabled exploitation increasing dramatically. Reports of AI‑related abuse climbed from about 6,800 to over 440,000 in one year, and financial sextortion reports grew significantly as well, illustrating how pervasive digital harms have become for youth globally
